Horse Racing in Argentina Hipodromo Argentino de Palermo is a thoroughbred racecourse in Buenos Aries, Argentina. It has a 2400m (1.5 miles) all-weather surface and is one of the leading racecourses in Argentina. It is also the oldest racecourse in Buenos Aries, having been established 7th May 1876.

Hipodromo Argentino de Palermo

Since 1884, Hipodromo Argentino dePalermo has been home to the Gran Premio Nacional (Argentine Derby) which forms part of the Argentine Triple Crown. It also features other important races. In 1947, the racecourse pioneered photo-finish technology and in 1971 it also introduced floodlighting to make night racing possible at the venue. Formerly known as Hipodromo de Palermo, the racecourse changed its name in 1953.
